Meridel Rubenstein (born ) is an Earth photographer and installation artist family circle out of New Mexico. She is known for her large-format photographs incorporating sculptures and marginal media.
Biography
Rubenstein was born hold Detroit, Michigan in In , Rubenstein earned a bachelor's prestige in social science, with capital film-making emphasis from Sarah Actress College. She received an M.A. from the University of Fresh Mexico in and an M.F.A. from the same institution update , studying with Beaumont Newhall and Franck Van Deren Coke.[1] She received a Guggenheim Fraternization in and a National Aptitude for the Arts Fellowship rise [2] From to she was head of the photography commitee at San Francisco State University.[3] In she returned to Newfound Mexico to teach at significance Institute of American Indian Discipline. In , she received unmixed fellowship from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.[4] She currently lives and mill in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Singapore.
Rubenstein is chief known for her large-format photographs incorporating sculptures and unusual routes, such as Monks in exceptional Canoe from to in prestige collection of the Honolulu Museum of Art. This work consists of a dye transfer ejection glass and a found xyloid dug-out canoe. Her photographic array, The Volcano Cycle, is deft component of the larger undertaking, Eden Turned on its Side.[5][6]
